Carros de Foc Trek is probably the first great trail with its own brand created in the Pyrenees. Carros de Foc was born in 1987 when the guards of the huts started the journey among themselves simply by greeting each other.
The Carros de Foc Trek goes entirely through the Aiguestortes National Park and Lake San Mauricio, created in 1955 and the only National Park in Catalonia. The route of the Carros de Foc has an approximate distance of 60 kilometers and more than 9,000 meters of accumulated altitude, making this trekking a great challenge in the Pyrenees.
During 6 days we will hike through the National Park where we will see more than 200 glacial lakes, which have been partially transformed by man over time to obtain electricity from the force of this element.
We will start on the Atlantic side of the Pyrenees, in the Arán Valley. We will pass through the Aiguestortes proper, places where the water pools, forming a special type of meadow. During our trek through the Carros de Foc we will be hiking above 2,000 meters, we will be crossing passes such as the Contraix, the Port de Caldes, the Monestero or the Ratera to connect the 9 huts that make up the circuit. In all the huts we will be stamping our card that will recognize that we have finished this great trek in the Pyrenees.
We will also see Los Encantados! and we will tell you the legend on the shores of Lake San Mauricio.
