A complete Trekking Trip to El Bierzo is what we will find on this itinerary. A trip to the insides of this region of León, in which we cover part of its trails, learning about its history.

Historically, El Bierzo has been a special region for its strategic location between mountains. Since ancient times Bergidum, a name of Celtiberian origin, welcomed many secrets that slowly were discovered until Roman times with the exploitation of Las Médulas, the largest open pit gold mine in the Roman Empire.

But the history of the region has left us spectacular spots and during this Trekking trip to El Bierzo we will discover them, such as la Tebaida Berciana or Silence Valley, a monastic enclave hidden in a place that incited meditation and contemplation at the foot of the Aquilian Mountains.

After visiting both places, we will rest while tasting the typical Bierzo wine, Mencía, in one of the vineyards that are place near the Sil Valley.

During this trekking trip to El Bierzo we will always walk on the sourroundings of the Sil River, so we will go to Alto Sil to visit one of the wildest places on the Iberian Peninsula. Between Chesnuts and strong plants, the bear kingdom, Alto Sil is an old mining valley where we can find great tree wealth but famous for fauna, since in its forests and summits we can find bears, wolves, deer, chamois, roe deer and boars.
