La Porta del Cel Trek is a beautiful mountain trip that connects several refuges in the Parc Natural de l’Alt Pirineu in Catalonia and the Parc Naturel Régional Pyrénées Ariégeoises in France. In addition, La Porta del Cel Trek owes its name to the fact that the route passes through the highest peak in Catalonia, La Pica d´Estats at 3,143 meters.
The 60-kilometer route hikes almost entirely above 2,000 meters and will take us to such emblematic places as the 2 ,853-meterCertascan Peak, la Pica d’Estats or the Cigalera Rock at 2,670 meters.
Our La Porta del Cel trek connects several hut starting in the small town of Tavascan in Pallars Sobirà. These high mountain trails connect Camping de Graus, with the Certascan Hut, Pinet Hut in France with the famous Valferrera hut.
But also, we will peaks like Montcalm or Sotllo, and we will be able to admire the largest natural lake in the Pyrenees, Certascan, or Estanys Blaus, lakes of Romedo, or lake Baborte.
La Porta del Cel is a unique way to explore one of the most attractive places in the Pyrenees in summer.
Itinerary
Day 1: Madrid – Tavascan (1.115 m) – Graus Campsite (1.260 m)
Day 2: Graus Campsite – Certascan Peak (2.853 m) – Refugio de Certascan (2.240 m)
Day 3: Certascan – L´Artiga pass (2.477 m) – Refugio de Pinet (2.240 m)
Day 4: Pinet – Pica d´Estats (3.143 m) – Refugio de Vallferrera (1.940 m)
Day 5: Vallferrera – Cigalera Rock (2.670 m) – Tavascan
Day 6: Tavascan – Madrid
