Spain > León > Climbing Catoute and hiking Bubin Valley

Climbing Catoute in El Bierzo region, to continuing with a hike  through the Bubín Valley, learning about the history of «El Renacido» is an awesome experience to live in the mountains.

El Catoute with its 2,117 meters is the most emblematic summit of El Bierzo and one of the most important in the province of León. This summit divides the Alto Sil from Alto Boeza and Bierzo from Omaña and in any of its climbs or slopes we have a rich diversity of species typical of the Sierra de Gistredo.

Climbing Catoute from Colinas del Campo de Martín Moro Toledano, a town with the longest name known in Spain, is the route we choose due to the typical landscapes we are going to find in our trail. Once at the top after overcoming several steps, more or less delicate, we will arrive at the Campa de Santiago in the neighboring municipality of Fasgar to return along the Forgotten Camino de Santiago (and ancient pilgrimage) to Colinas del Campo where we will enjoy an exquisite local menu.

On the second day we will make a smoother route through the Bubín Valley to a Millennium Oak while we learn one of the most exciting stories of survival in the mountains, the story of a «Reborn».

Program

We will divide the program into three days. The first day we will be received at the Igüeña Lodge where we will be explained about the program that we will carry out, the Catoute climb and the hike through the Bubin Valley.

We will talk about the municipality of Igüeña as well as the fauna and flora that we can find today in the Bercian mountains.
